Join GeoBetty Tours for an exclusive tour into the copper mine located in the Tom Mays Unit of Franklin Mountains State Park. We’ll unlock the gate at the mine shaft entrance and take a small group into this mysterious place for a tour to learn about the geology and history of El Paso and the Franklins. No climbing is necessary, just one tight squeeze to enter the mine. The shaft is over 300 feet long and contains an amazing variety of rocks and minerals, some brightly colored.
Cave Climbing Gym will help you rappel off the 90 foot cliff above the mine with gear and instruction provided by an American Mountain Guide Association certified instructor. carefully learn the “ropes” until you feel confident enough to get over that edge and on down the vertical wall.
